Tuesday Night Project presents J-Town Summer Sessions: A Live Concert Recording and Celebration of Art + Community
Los Angeles—Tuesday Night Project, in partnership with Glenn Suravech Mosaic Sound Recordings and Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple, presents: J-Town Summer Sessions: A Live Concert Recording and Celebration of Art + Community on August 6, 2011. The event will take place at the Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple, 505 East Third Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013.
J-Town Summer Sessions will celebrate Tuesday Night Project’s thirteenth year of its 1st & 3rd Tuesday Night Cafe free public arts series with a concert featuring a number of musical artists from the Asian Pacific and Los Angeles community. In addition, music producer and recording engineer Glenn Suravech will be doing a live recording of the J-Town Summer Sessions concert and producing an album to follow. The concert will also take place one week following the Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple’s Obon Festival event.
“We’re extremely excited to celebrate our thirteenth year of free programming for artists and community members in Little Tokyo and we are very lucky to have the talents of recording engineer and music producer Glenn Suravech,” says Tuesday Night Project Director and Founder traci kato-kiriyama. “Glenn has worked with a huge cadre of musicians from local talent we are familiar with (including Sue Jin and Alice Tong) to serving as an assistant engineer for legends like Bob Dylan and Jackson Browne.”

Since 1999, Tuesday Night Project’s flagship series, the 1st & 3rd Tuesday Night Cafe, has presented a variety of Asian American and Los Angeles artists performing music, spoken word, poetry, visual art, standup comedy, improv, short films, and performance art. Hosted spring through fall, it is currently one of the longest running free public art series and revitalization projects of Little Tokyo/Downtown L.A.
