Tuesday Night Cafe Featured Performer/Artist/Vendor Submission

Greetings! Thank you for your interest in joining us for the 17th season of Tuesday Night Cafe!

The 1st & 3rd Tuesday Night Cafe is a free/volunteer-run and donation-based public arts series rooted in the Asian American community and based in Downtown Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo. Our submission process allows us to get to know you and your work and helps us make the most of our limited performance, artist, and vendor slots. Please keep in mind that TNC is not an industry showcase or competition. We strive to create a collaborative atmosphere of artists and community members connecting with and supporting one another.

We are interested in artists with a wide range of performance experience (first timers too!) and are particularly interested in artists who are rooted in community building, presenting new original work, and connecting with the Tuesday Night Project community and artists. If you haven’t had the chance to check out a show, you can check us out on YouTube (on our channel or search “Tuesday Night Cafe”) for a sense of the vibe. Artists are provided with an awesome volunteer staff to assist them, a community to build with, and dinner on the night they perform.

Please note that we prioritize artists who identify with any of the following communities:
- Asian/Pacific Islander/Native Hawaiian
- People of Color
- Female
- Trans
- Queer, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Intersex, Asexual, Questioning
- Gender Non-Conforming
- Youth
- Elders
(As an organization, we continue to have conversations around identifying terms.)

Our submission period will be open from Monday, February 2nd until Friday, February 27th. We book our artists on a rolling basis, but please note that this season we cannot guarantee slots.

Whether or not you are selected, we hope that you will also join us as a member of the TNC audience! Please note that each show also features three 5-minute open mic spots in addition to our featured performers.  We encourage you to join the open mic process!

Open mic sign up directions can be found on our About TNC page under "Open Mic Guidelines"

(If more spots become available later in the season, we may re-open the submission process. We often pull from our list of open mic performers to round out our season.)

Check out our TNC Schedule for a full listing of show dates. Thank you, and good luck!

Please let us know how you would like to be referred to in our outreach and introduced as at the show.

You may link to videos, audio files, personal blog posts, or a Google doc. (Links only, please do not attempt to paste content here. Please note that we ask our artists to perform original work.)
Have you ever attended a Tuesday Night Cafe show before? *
Check all that apply!
Tell us about your performance:
You will have an opportunity to update/modify this when booked. (300 words max)
What is your preferred set length? *
Please select all set times that would work for you.
Could you perform a set that is less than your preferred set length? *
Including microphones, stands, DJ to play a backing track, etc. If your set is equipment-heavy, please let us know if you can do a stripped-down version.
If you've listed a drum kit in your tech, are you willing to either forgo a drum kit or bring alternate percussion (e.g., cajon, etc)?
Due to space/staff constraints, it is harder for us to accommodate drum kits.
Will you be able to make a Tuesday 6:15pm soundcheck? *
We super duper value artists who can make it on time.
For example, if you would like to plan a performance around an album release, big show, etc.
We theme some shows! Any of the following you'd be interested in?
We often curate shows to specific themes. Please check any of the below that you'd be interested in being a part of (checking/not checking will NOT affect your chances of being booked).

Some final notes...

Thank you again for your interest in joining us for Season 17 of Tuesday Night Cafe.

We will contact all applicants by March 13. While we hope to host as many performers as possible every season, we do have a limited number of available slots, and we consider a number of factors as part of our curation and booking process.

Our mission is to build community and encourage collaboration among artists, and we ask each of our selected performers to stay for the duration of the show in which they are featured. Shows run from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at: contacttnproject@gmail.com. Thank you, and we hope to see you soon in Little Tokyo!
