The sky had begun to darken, but warmth still abounded as we watched performers bathed in yellow-stage lights bring an outdoor space surrounded by business towers and busy streets come to life. The wailing of a distant siren, car horns, and the sound of tires against rough pavement found harmony with the voices of slam poets, singers, and other Asian American performers.

This year, the UCLA Asian American Studies Center honored traci kato-kiriyama and Tuesday Night Project with the UCLA AASC Nishida Distinguished Lectureship. We were very honored and excited to receive such a recognition that provided for an interactive workshop between TNP staff and UCLA students, a lecture for Professor Victor Bascara's class, and generous honorarium for traci and TNP.

Little Tokyo's Tuesday Night Café outdoor performance series might actually be the best opportunity to behold LA's extremely eclectic talent-base. It has a pretty nice variety of  folk, hip-hop, dance, improv, and stand-up. Tuesday Night Project Announces New Producers and Staff Transitions

LOS ANGELES – Tuesday Night Project (TNP) is excited to announce new staff changes within the organization as it nears the end of its 15th season.  Tuesday Night Project Director/Co-Founder traci kato-kiriyama will transition out of producing and curating TNP’s flagship Tuesday Night Café (TNC) series at the end of its 2013 season.  While she will remain on board as TNP Director, current TNC Co-Curator Sean Miura will take her place as Lead Producer and Head Curator of Tuesday Night Café beginning in the 2014 season. Additionally, TNP Communications Manager Quincy Surasmith will also serve as Associate Producer of the TNC series.
